FTX 13: Recurrence — After Action Report

An Episode in the Ashes of Harvest Saga

What. A. Night. The Frontier Coalition came away with yet another victory in the FTX Series, but there is much more to this story...

FTX 13: Recurrence was a breaking point of the Ashes of Harvest storyline – a stand against a recurrent infected outbreak that had began consuming entire outposts. Every faction came together in a fragile ceasefire to confront the source after months of eradicating the spread in their own regions. But as soon as boots hit the field, alliances fractured, shots rang out, and a new truth emerged: someone was protecting the infection.

The Coyote Syndicate.

Operating in the shadows, Syndicate scientists and operatives had embedded themselves around the Bloodheart - not to cure it, but to control it. What followed was one of the most intense nights in FTX history: 12 missions, a thirty-point final battle, and a duel that decided the fate of the cure.

The Story So Far

The Ashes of Harvest outbreak spread faster than containment efforts could keep up. Free Alliance (Commander Jacob Eslinger), and RGF (Commander Archfiend) had formed temporary truces and lines of defense, while the Frontier Coalition (Commander Brimstone) and Wastelanders (Commander Rabbit) scavenged what they could from collapsing zones to make a final assault.

Intelligence recovered by the Free Alliance from the Syndicate’s old safe house revealed a horrifying lead - a viral power source known as the Bloodheart, pulsing in the ruins of a pre-war containment sector. It was the key to both the long standing infection and the cure.

But when the united strike teams arrived to destroy it, they found Syndicate mercenaries already dug in, guarding it like a sacred asset.

That’s when the Battle of Recurrence began.

The Game

Frontier Coalition started fast, cutting through Syndicate lines and completing six missions before anyone else hit five. Their pace never slowed. RGF hit setbacks early after completing objectives out of sequence but recovered with discipline and communication. Free Alliance, outnumbered but organized, kept pace through the night and nearly stole the win. Wastelanders brought the chaos - loud, fearless, and stubborn. Bulldog (Section 8) completed six of their seven missions almost entirely solo, a one-man army in the fog.

The night phase was chaos incarnate. Flashlights cut through the mist, and tracer fire danced over the ruined barricades where the Syndicate once held their ground.

The Duel

Under the cold lights of the container alley: the same ground where Syndicate guards had fallen... two champions met to decide the outcome of the evening:

  • Frontier Coalition: Boomslang (Brimstone Brothers)
  • RGF: Ace (Section 8)

Both fired in near-perfect sync. Two flashes. Two hits.
Boomslang's round struck first, ending the battle and securing the cure for the Coalition.

The Bloodheart was destroyed. The infection, seemingly ended...

MVPs & Standouts

🏆 MVP – Bulldog (Section 8 / Wastelanders): Six missions solo, zero quit when things got tough.

💀 Honorable Mention – Curtis Ivey (Coyote Syndicate): Soaked hits all night and never slowed.

🎯 Commander’s Commendation – Jacob (Free Alliance): Led a green roster with focus and heart.

Plays of the Night

  • Frontier Coalition's “Bloodheart Run”: Two players distracted Curtis while a third slipped in and destroyed the heart in under five minutes.
  • Rabbit’s Supply Find (Wastelanders): The only commander to locate all the hidden black duffel without ref help.
  • The Final Duel: Boomslang vs. Ace - two shots that ended the battle between the factions.

Commander Series Insights

The 2025 Commander Series has been balanced and story-rich. Each event has tested a different side of every faction — from leadership and logistics to endurance and adaptability under pressure.

Frontier Coalition continues to set the pace for organized gameplay. Their consistency and calm under fire have made them the faction to beat, but what sets them apart isn’t just tactics — it’s their ability to plan, communicate, and execute as one. Their victories come from structure, not luck.

Wastelanders remain the heart of chaos. Loud, fearless, and creative, they bring the energy that makes every FTX feel alive. While discipline isn’t always their strong suit, their players show incredible drive and grit in the face of overwhelming odds. When they align under a single vision, they’re unstoppable.

Remnant Government Forces came roaring back at Recurrence, proving that experience and composure still count in the chaos. Their ability to recover from setbacks and adapt mid-game reminds everyone why they’ve always been a powerhouse faction when it matters most.

Free Alliance continues to impress with small-team precision and big-picture thinking. They’ve become the benchmark for what teamwork looks like under pressure — lean, coordinated, and mission-focused. Even without large numbers, they’ve made an impact every time they’ve stepped onto the field.

Across the board, player growth, sportsmanship, and leadership have all leveled up this season. From first-time commanders to veterans returning for another run, everyone contributed to what’s quickly becoming one of the most competitive and immersive community leagues in the country.

Season totals reflect attendance, performance, and bonus scores across the 2025 Commander Series.

Final Thoughts

The Recurrence event marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
The Bloodheart may be destroyed, but the Syndicate’s involvement raises questions — who ordered their defense, and what did they take before falling back?

As the fog clears and the factions regroup, whispers spread of sealed cases marked with the Syndicate’s insignia — and of scientists who never made it back to base.

For now, the cure is secure. The infection has been contained. But peace never lasts long in the wasteland.

Thank you to every player who showed up, fought hard, and kept the energy alive deep into the night. Your teamwork, leadership, and positive sportsmanship are what make this community what it is.
