You’ve stepped into the nightmare. Welcome to Recurrence, our airsoft horror survival experience. Before the infection spreads too far, we need to go over the ground rules. This ensures everyone survives the weekend — at least outside of the story.
📋 Rules of Play
1. Safety First
- First, all existing field rules apply. (any notable overrides are provided here in this post)
- Full-seal ANSI-rated eye protection is mandatory at all times on the field.
- Barrel covers and/or magazines out on until you’re in the play zone. Chrono limits will be enforced — no exceptions.
- Dead players do not talk, move, or give intel. Raise your hand, call yourself out, and head back to respawn.
- Chronograph testing will be done according to our standard Joule and Class Weapons rules.
- Over the course of the event on the field, all field supplied BBS will be .20g BBs.
2. The Infected Threat
- The infected are not regular players. They may have special rules, movement styles, or effects. Respect the game masters and follow instructions when interacting with them.
- If you’re tagged or “infected” during play, follow the mechanic explained at the start of the event.
- Players can register to attend the event as Infected - but this is a special role that takes commitment and adherence to field staff instruction.
3. Melee Weapons
- Foam and latex melee weapons are allowed, but must follow the safety guidelines:
- Core fully padded, no exposed edges.
- Max length: 60 inches.
- Handle clearly defined.
- Sturdy but safe. No wobbling cores or dangerous mods.
- Building your own weapon? Make sure it adheres to the following Melee Weapon Crafting Guidelines
- The foam protecting the core must not be missing or damaged.
- All layers of foam must be securely bonded together.
- The core must be completely padded on all sides and never exposed.
- Padding must be sufficient on the tip, blade, and guard.
- The core must be secured so it cannot move freely inside the weapon.
- Cores must be made from lightweight, hollow materials such as fiberglass or carbon fiber.
- Weapons may not exceed 60 inches in length.
- Handles must be securely attached to the rest of the weapon and not loose.
- Handles must be clearly defined and easy to distinguish from the blade.
4. Missions & Objectives
- Each faction will receive missions during gameplay. Some are straightforward, others… less so.
- Protect your objectives, pursue your goals, and remember: no one has all the pieces of the puzzle.
5. Respect the Immersion
- This is a horror survival experience. Loud noises, fog, darkness, and jump scares are all part of it. Play into the theme, respect the atmosphere, and make it fun for everyone.
- Absolutely no physical contact outside of melee-safe weapon strikes.
❓ FAQ
Q: What should I bring?
Bring your airsoft gear, magazines, and plenty of water. Glowsticks, flashlights, or small lanterns are highly recommended for night play. Players should bring 5,000 BBs of their preferred weight to use during the event. Additional BBs will be found on the field of play over the course of the event.
Q: Do I need to pick a faction?
Yes. You’ll fight as part of one of the four factions: Wastelanders, Frontier Coalition, Remnant Government Forces, or the Free Alliance. Each has its own goals in the story.
Q: Will there be downtime?
Yes — missions run in waves, with chances to reload, hydrate, and regroup at your base.
Q: Can I play as an infected?
Yes! Special roles will be announced at the event, and you can also select to participate as an Infected for the duration of the event if you desire! This gives YOU the chance to walk in the shadows.
Q: Is it scary?
Yes — Recurrence is designed to blur the line between airsoft and survival horror. It’s not for the faint of heart.
Q: What happens if I break the rules?
Safety violations or disrespectful conduct result in removal from the event. No refunds. We run Recurrence for the players who want to immerse, play hard, and respect the story.
